Film Reverse engineering 2

today, in the group we decided how we would set up the set and get the props. we decided rupert will wear a swimming cap and we would paint him black with facepaint, so he looks more like lucius in the clip. we also thinking were we can get the props.
we have ask anthony to play ricky bobby in our reverse engineering, so we have got all the actors ready now. now were dicusing the possible locations of the clip to be shot. we first thought of using the library, but we can't use it in the easter holiday. in the shot, there is a window looking at a car park, we thought of getting a picture of a car park and fading it out a little and sticking it on the windows so it looks like were looking at a carpark.

Today I and the group finally got out video chosen, it is a clip from Tallegated Nights when Ricky bobby thinks his legs are paralyzed and he can’t walk. Augi was chosen to write the script and what they were saying and I am looking at the props in the scene and Rupert isn’t here because he is sick.i already found some problems of who is going to play each character, we have chosen to let rupert play lucius in the clip and i will be playing cal. we still haven't found a person to play Ricky Bobby.

The Godfather

In our class we were told to write about a part from the godfather. We were told to identify parallels and contrast of the different scenes. The part we look at it when Michael Corleone is at his son’s baptizing, when that he is there he gets his people to kill off other mafia families.

There is a good contrast when Michael is in the church with his family and friends and at the same time his guys are killing people in different locations.
The other contrast between the scenes is that when then priest is picking something up to put on the child's head, at the same time one of the killer picks up a part of a gun. the priest being good and doesn't sin, while the other guy is bad and kills people.

In the part it showed different guys carrying out different jobs for Micheal, i think that its very well set up that he is in a church, while he is killing many different people. when the church peace and no violence, he is actually a very dangerous man.

this shows the part we looked at in class.

Battleship Potempkin

1. Re watch the up to 0:45. What atmosphere do the contrasting shots create? How does Eisenstein create a sense of foreboding alongside the overriding atmosphere?
the contrasting shots give an happy and exited atmosphere, which is very different to what going to happen. the sense of foreboding comes from the people waving because you don't no what there waving at fully, you know its a ship but don't know who is on the ship and what there doing.

2. Watch the rest of the clip again. How does Eisenstein create a contrast between the soldiers and the people? How and why does our view of the people's feelings towards the soldiers change?
the contrast is that the soldier are all in a line and well organized, and the people are running in different directions and hiding and jumping over things. its a very crowed scene and out of control. it also shows that the soldiers are in control because they are calm and not running around, not like the people who are in a state of panic and cannot be in control of the situation. another contrast between the soldiers and people is that the people feel many different emotions while the soldiers don't, they don't even feel any for the boy who is dead. they just keep shooting and marching down the steps.

Common Features

The common features of horror are dark sets, bloody scenes and some great make up and costumes. many horror movies use video editing to add things in that are not physically possible to create on set.

This is an example of some video editing has you can see at 0.19 - 0.22 seconds.

Horror movies sometimes have over exaggerated deaths, where there is tons of blood and limbs falling off.

at 3.29 you can see the blood falling from his face and that the cuts are deep.

horror movies are defined as movies that scared you and make you feel very uncomfortable. some have a lot of blood and can get very detailed.

horror is similar to some action movies, where there is always a main character that survives and saves the day. horror movies are also very different because action movies mostly make you feel good and it has a lot of fighting and effects. eg cars flying throw windows, explosions. horror doesn't really have bombs and guns, it has a lot of unnatural things like ghosts or zombies.

Horror

Horror: it can give you many different feelings, it can make your heart beat at a crazy pace, it makes you go out of the comfort zone, it makes your imagination go wild. you can get excited or feel scared. Sometimes it can have supernatural villains, some what like mutations. Some films have the story that a disease infects the world and slowly people die or they turn into a mutation that needs to feed of other humans. Like the movie “28 days later” Horror isn’t for the faint hearted. I think horror films are one of the greatest movies around it takes the director a lot of effort to make one and get the idea for one. The horror genre was started a long time ago. before people would criticize it for being bad graphics violence and low budget films.

Now the films are high budget and take a lot of time and effort to produce one. Sometimes it can be the video editing or the make up and costumes that take the longest to get good and look real. One of my favorite movies is “dawn of the dead and the Exorcist of Emily Rose” there many other movies which are very well made and have a good stories. The first horror movies were the stories about Frankenstein and Dracula.

Horror is a worldwide language a lot of countries, many countries in the world have there own adaptation of horror movies, the French and English have some good ones and the Chinese have also.

My top 8 horror movies:
Dawn of the dead
The ring
28 days later
Saw 1-4
